I was a cheerleader

My only claim to fame in high school was being a white guy who could dunk a basketball, a rarity 40 years ago. I was a late bloomer with the girls, but when it finally happened, my first girlfriend was a former cheerleader. My bloom peaked and faded early, sadly, and no more cheerleaders have come my way. I saw the movie "Someone Like You" recently and was reminded by Ashley Judd's cheerleader-renactment scene that there are of course more important and appealing qualifications that ladies possess other than "ex-cheerleader". But Ashley did look rather nice while doing the scene ........

We had a severe wind and hail storm Monday afternoon, leaving my neighbor looking like my portfolio -- all green, with spring leaves torn from the trees now covering the street, sidewalks, driveways and roofs (or rooves to some folks). With the leaves drying out today, the leaf-blower brigade has gone to work, adding a whirring accompaniment to the celebration of today's market.

The storm knocked my electricity off for 11 hours, and I felt so-o-o California there for awhile. And to add insult to the situation, my 10-year-old TV refused to be resuscitated when the power was finally restored. I've always been a one-TV kinda guy, so I'm missing the happy market action on CNBC today. It's rather pleasant, actually.
