by the time the statistics come out that show successive quarters of negative growth, the recession has already hit....fed figures are lagging and most times stale....so you won't know until you have been there!

i understand very well the implications of a slowing economy, and if this is the most dire of economies that you have seen, then you have nothing much to compare it with....

do you see the return of carter era double digit inflation, eighteen per cent mortgage rates, double digit unemployment in populated areas, material shortages?

if the debt created by the vietnam conflict did not sink once and forever this and the global economy, then a minor downturn, that is being exacerbated by the fact that everyone lost big in their 401k and talking media heads constantly reminding of the equity markets,won't cause long term damage...

a point of reference is required to determine gravity...what is your reference point?
