ed..I agree that California's problems are somewhat unique, and certainly centered around regulation. But we ARE short on energy, and oil/gasoline/distillates are only one piece of it. Natural gas inventories will be (already are) critically low, and we're in the season where they are normally being replenished. Despite much higher drilling activity in North America last year, production barely increased. Most of the new power generating capacity that has come on line (not just in Cali, but throughout the U.S.) is natural gas fired. Summer is the peak usage season in warm weather regions (including California). Time will tell, but we're entering unchartered territory here....
