The bents sound like great fun! I will have to give one a try in the near future. I have had a couple of bad experiences on some steep descents.

I live in the county but work in St. Louis. When there is enough light I try to ride to work a couple of times a week. Traffic can be a bear especially on Friday evening.
A couple of times with some major wrecks on a highway, the bike is as fast a commute timewise as the car.

I have marveled at the bike messengers in NY, now that is riding in some traffic!
