scots40: The chip you talk about is only a small component of a 'handset', although for basic functionality (i.e., communication) the most important. Take the blinkers off and look at the possible overall functionality of future terminals and hence the need for feasibility studies and joint development. As for any deal with Sony: This maybe news but the idea of third party suppliers was discussed as a possible strategy for 3G terminals some 2 years ago. Couldn't agree more with it. I loved the NEC 3G terminals on interactive display at Telecom 99 in Geneva.
