This may very well be true but it is a perversion of the
facts. AMD has the plans and financing already in place
to expand one plant to a capacity of 30 million K6/K7's
per year. Their German plant is slated to double that
capacity to 60 million. As I am sure that you know it is
not the number of your fabs but rather your capacity to
produce cpu's in however many fabs that you have that
is the real issue.

Also, it can be argued sucessfully that having a
lesser number of fabs simplifies many management
issues while complicating only a few of them.
