Jane Fonda seeks divorce from Ted Turner
ATLANTA, April 19 (Reuters) - Academy Award winning actress, social activist and fitness guru Jane Fonda has filed for divorce from CNN (NYSE:AOL - news) founder Ted Turner.
In a filing in Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta, Fonda said the couple's marriage is ``irretrievably broken.'' The document says ``there is no hope of reconciliation.''
Fonda and Turner, who married in December 1991, have been separated for more than a year.
The filing on Monday said the two ``have entered into a comprehensive agreement which resolves all issues between them,'' but gave no details regarding any division of assets.
In a recently published interview in Hello! magazine, Fonda said she was writing her memoirs. ``One of the things I want to talk about in my memoirs is the fact that separation or divorce doesn't necessarily represent failure,'' she told the magazine.
The 63-year-old actress, who won Academy Awards for best actress the 1971 film ``Klute'' and the 1978 film ``Coming Home,'' told Hello! she was giving up her movie career.
Fonda, whose workout videos helped spark the fitness craze of the 1980s and '90s has also said she has largely given up exercise because it interferes with her writing.
She told ABC's Barbara Walters in a ``20/20'' interview in February her book will recount her days as an anti-war activist and the controversial chapter in her life when she was called ``Hanoi Jane'' for visiting North Vietnam.
Turner was Fonda's third husband. She was also married to French film director Roger Vadim and Tom Hayden, now a California politician.
A spokesman for Turner was not available for comment.
