Nortel Networks (NT) 17.80 +0.35: Reports Q1 loss of $0.12 a share, in line with the First Call consensus of ($0.12) and at the low end of the guidance range that called for a loss of $0.10-0.12. Revenues of $6.18 bln were in line with guidance of $6.1-6.2 bln. Company expects that capital spending will continue to be constrained and will not provide guidance for next quarter or the year as a result.

PMC-Sierra (PMCS) : Posts Q1 net of $0.02 a share, in line with consensus; no guidance offered.

MedImmune (MEDI) 40.46 -0.91: Reports Q1 earnings of $0.36 a share, in line with the First Call consensus of $0.36, vs year-ago earnings of $0.27. Revenues were up 19% to $245 million from $206 million in the 2000 first quarter.

IDEC Pharm (IDPH) 52.36 -2.29: Reports Q1 earnings of $0.12 a share, $0.02 better than the First Call consensus of $0.10, vs year-ago earnings of $0.02. Revenues were $56.5 million compared to $27.0 million for the first quarter of 2000.

Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 20.71 +2.13: Sun reports a profit of $0.08, a penny better than the First Call consensus of $0.07; revenues were $4.095 bln compared to consensus of $4.3 bln.
