So how many times have you been whipped this year? How many times have you been separated from your wife or children because you or they were sold to someone else? Have you had anything better than leftover vegetables and old bread to eat this year? Do you get slugged if you say something your boss doesn't like? Why weren't the teachers who taught you to read arrested? It was illegal to amke a slave literate? Can you vote? A slave couldn't. Does your house have heat? A slave cabin didn't. You're kidding, right? As Neocon said, to compare the ordinary existence of an American today to slavery is to trivialize slavery.
