Things we can know about Hutch:

1. He believes he is intelligent.

2. He votes democrat for their economic policies.

3. He thinks knee jerk reactionary means quick thinker and takes it as a compliment.

4. He believes that free trade with Japan and China would be good as goods would be cheaper in America and that would be a net benefit.

5. He works for the government or a gov't co-opted financial institution. Really the same thing.

6. He believes Keynes did not go far enough with his spending policies for governments.

7. He believes in deficit financing.

8. He does not believe that economies of the past are an arbiter of truth today, as conditions, checks and balances and economic complexity today precludes learning from the mistakes of the past. ("things are different today")

9. He believes that dependence on precious metals was ok in 1930 but it is now archaic and we can trust the government not to print too much money.

10. He believes the money supply can be held in check by controlling interest rates.

11. He believes government spending is not excessive and anyway cannot contribute to inflation.

12. He believes the M1 is not excessive.

13. He believes the tech downturn is only temporary and will be brief.

14. He thinks that we can import all of North America's raw materials and finished goods and this will not effect the economy or the employment situation. (the service economy).

15. If a gold bug said it was raining he would not even look out the window to say he was wrong.

16. He thinks it OK for new developing countries to be socialist-communist as they develop faster and better that way at first.

17. He thinks that if a country does not have 100 persons per square mile (Rwanda?) it should import immigrants until it does. He does not have a reason for this but be believes what the United Way chairman tells him is good.

18. He believes that most of the people in politics are actually good, wise, capable and fair.

19. He is wrong on most, if not all of the above.
