mark, another anecdotal point to ponder. one of my big goals was to become a single earner household and raise a family. this used to be expected. it is now a total luxury that one must be thankful they attained unless they had the silver spoon syndrome.

then they ought to be thankful for the silver spoon! ;-)

the median is supposed to remove the outlier data that can skey the mean.

wrt low cost housing, i only have anecdotal evidence. the condo i own went for $38k in kirkland, wa (just outside bellevue, wa). during 1991. can we agree that was cheap?

well, they are pushing $100k 10 years later. i don't think wages are up nearly 200% in the same time frame. this is proof of nothing other than insane asset inflation does exist in at least one place. i'm unaware of any place that has massive deflation that counteracts the ny, bay area, seattle, so-cal, etc markets that are BOOMING. they may exist, i just don't where they are, nor have i heard of them.
