Hi Dave,

I Don't know. For most people, the US is far away from home. But his statements about Kyoto came certainly as a shock. Environment is a hot issue here. Most countries have pretty powerful green parties, with between 10 and 20% voters. Both consumers, industry and agriculture are doing major efforts to improve our environment. I don't think Mr. Bush realizes the impact of his statement on European public opinion and our leaders.

There is no politician here, not left wing or right wing, who shows so obvious he is not interested in the environment. It would be the end of his political career.

It reminds me of a local major of a coast village some 15 years ago when inspectors from health care closed his beatiful beach because of salmonella contamination. The major came on television, telling:" I don't believe them, I walked on the beach this morning and haven't seen one salmonella in the water."

It's funny when it's a local major, but it's no fun when the most powerful man on earth thinks exactly the same way.

So how do we see him. With some disbelieve and some fear, I guess. Because he seems a little unpredictable.

Greetings,

Bert
