If you can avoid a complete re-install, don't do one. It's a serious piece of work. When I said I can do one in nine hours, it's because I have everything I need at my fingertips. This includes all necessary CDs, downloads, and the answer to each and every question I must answer.

It also helps to have done it a dozen times.

The big hurdle to overcome is this: You cannot know what you need until it's required, and when installing an OS, you won't have a running system to help you. I think of a rock climber letting go of the first rope without knowing if it's possible to reach the next.

Cheers, PW.

P.S.

Hint: Boot with Step by Step Confirmation and skip the last few Windows drivers. (The Symantec ones.) (Of course you'll need to skip none once, just to determine which ones are last.) See if that helps.
