Inter@ctive Week has article: "USR's X2 Push Angers Providers"
June 9, 1997 issue, page 26.

Couldn't find the URL, even though searched thru their site.

But basically, usrx gave away some X2 modems to the ISP customers
even though the isp did not have X2. Later it said they told these
winners that the could switch to ISP that were supporting X2 now.
The ISP's said they cannot "jump [to a new modem system]
overnight"
