I just created a backup floppy for my Favorites following your instructions.

Funny, but yesterdayI tried the View...Export method. I ended up with it saved in a file someplace on my computer. I did a search and found it, figuring maybe from there I could get it onto a floppy. But when I opened it, it was all code. So it's in my recycle bin now. Its icon is four puzzle pieces linked in a square.

Today, probably because i had some confidence it was possible from your instructions, I did manage to get them downloaded onto a floppy. That's a relief!

(A question: Should one close down browser windows before doing such operations?)

About trying to do the same for my address book:

I use Microsoft Outlook. (Not Outlook Express.) If I try to follow your instructions for backing that up, I click on Tools to bring up the address book, then on File.

But Import and Export are bleached out, so can't be chosen.

In Address Book Help, looking in the Index or Search by typing in Backup or Backing Up or Floppy gets nothing; but typing in Export gets your instructions. So I wonder why those options are bleached out....?

(BTW, that is typical of Indexes and Search Help, is my experience. Of manuals, too. If a neophyte wants to back something up, they are going to seach under backup. They are unlikely to know that "Export" is the required search word for getting to backup instructions.)

Thank you, I'm delighted to have my Favorites backed up! I can't figure out a way to do my entire busy desktop, though. Maybe item by item is the only way.
