I mentioned that the first step was to explain the process and get agreement from the participates to collaborate. I hadn't thought about this before, but you gave me a sudden AH-HA moment. I mentioned in an earlier post that I am well acquainted with group consensus. I am also a family law mediator for our local courts. Until you wrote that, I hadn't realized what a connection there is between the consensus processes and mediation. I should have -- it's one of those things that once you see it it's so obvious that you slap your head and realize you should have gotten it years ago. But for some reason I had never made the connection. I guess because one is so specifically a larger group process and the other is so specifically a legally generated two-party process. But I still can't believe I hadn't made the connection before now. Now I'm going to have to go through all I know about consensus and see how it applies to mediation, and vice versa. Shouldn't take me more than a year or so. Thanks for the insight! Do you have any experience in mediation?
