>>Next January, Europeans will begin using euros<<

a reality sinc - Europe is already using Euro in everything but cash transactions. All my accounts are in Euro. I'm already thinking euro in practical terms. You should start too, dear generic reader (g). Re DM, there's political and economical will in Germany at the very least, to sustain the currency stability and dependability, while giving up some essential attributes of sovereignity (applies to all EU states of course) . IOW to keep the good record while at the same time giving up the control over the currency. Which is just one of many (many) measures taken lately in European union. The currency decision being - to my best recollection - five (well this went fast...) years old

PS: re US-Sino relations, my sincere appologies for dragging this issue in. They shoot horses, dont they. Think of my kids before pulling the trigger.
