"I am very curious about the timing of the Intel's move. They seem to be determined to trash AMD's stock price. I have not researched it, but it may have something to do with the convertible bonds."

Intel has no choice if one looks at the falloff in their Q1 numbers...Margins down 12% over a 3 month interval and P4, the only way out, seems to be dying on the vine...P4 incremental shipments absolutely have to exceed celeron and P3 incremental drop off if INTC is to have any chance of avoiding red in each of the remaining quarters of Y2001...and the only way that can happen is with P4 price declines in attempt to resuscitate P4 demand...I would think that INTC's sole motivation for dropping P4 prices has to do withself preservation...If P4 doesn't fly, INTC has no way out...Desparate times at INTC I'd guess, and of the two companies, there is significantly more risk that INTC's stock gets trashed, given the underlying fundamentals of each...AMD's Athy is on the trendsetting (accelerating) portion of the demand curve...INTC's P4 has yet to prove itself capable of establishing any trend!!!
