Traditionally does not mean always. Someone has actually made a study of the returns if they got in the tech market by Octover 15 every year and got out April 15th (no, I do not have a URL), and these beat the buy and hold in the same sector hand down. There is actually a very good reason for that seasonality, Europe essentially closes down during the July/August period thus reducing technology biuys from that geography and since it is a big chunk of world "GWP", it might indeed be more than "anecdotal".
