twfowler, RE: The lines in the 70's where largely because the price was controlled. If a similar situation occurred today it might result in $3.50/gallon gas instead of long lines.

Higher prices won't help when there is limited refinery capacity. This is exacerbated in the areas where reformulated gasoline is required.
