Loss of face for DOCOMO is huge. DOCOMO's Problem is not at all helpful to QCOM because it delays 3G royalties from a Japanese W-CDMA expansion by 6 months. On the other hand, everyone was convinced that DOCOMO would have only a very limited roll out. Now the Japanese have the Chinese bearing down on them except that KDDI is a CDMA2000 leader. Getting this far behind in a fast product cycle industry with QCOM running balls-to-the-wall to make new product advances is really dangerous. I think QCOM is committed to suport J-phone's W-CDMA roll out in 2002.
