A buyout is possible, but very unlikely in this environment. Barrier to entry in the realty portal business is not very high as Microsoft and eBay have proven.

Why would a ReMax/Century 21/Coldwell Banker pay to list on HOMS site when you could get a wider audience with Microsoft's MSN HomeAdvisor or eBay Realty.

There is more of a direct to buyer trend in the real estate business (bypass the 7% real estate commission).
That is the true power of the realty marketing on the internet, to reduce the number of middlemen in the business process.

An eBay type site seems more logical a marketplace to save $10,000 on a typical commission on a house sale, especially during harder times.
