What that article didn't explain was why the policy wasn't paying as much as it used to. The reason is outrageous charging practices by doctors and hospitals. Billing for services not rendered, medications not taken etc. My wife went in for a simple (oh it's nothing, be here at 7 am, we'll have her out just after noon) gall bladder removal. True to their word, it was a quick surgery and recovery. However, the bill for this half a day affair was over $6000. These people are licensed robbers. $1600 doctor bill (He had 7 scheduled for that day) and $4200 hospital bill. 6 hours, $4200. I protested. I called and asked if a one day stay was $16,800. No, I was told. The extra charges were for "equipment".

If we are ever to correct the health industry, we have to start with doctors and hospitals.

I could go on but you get the drift.

Have a good one Gordon.
