Cyber-Care Buys Home Workstation Technology
(April 23, 2001) Home-monitoring firm Cyber-Care Inc., Boynton Beach, Fla., has acquired technology for an 18-pound home workstation from CardioCommand Inc., Tampa, Fla. Cyber-Care purchased the CloseTouch Companion home workstation in a transaction valued at $3.2 million; details were not released. CardioCommand will adapt the workstation to operate Cyber-Care software; the system also will work with devices that Cyber-Care uses to collect clinical information from patients. Cyber-Care offers the Electronic HouseCall system, which facilitates video calls between nurses and patients. Maynard Ramsey, M.D, CardioCommand's CEO and chief science and technical officer, will join Cyber-Care management.
