There are two sides to this. Four years ago I had a heart attack- -complete occlusion (blockage) of the right coronary artery. At the hospital a balloon angioplasty was done to re-open the blocked artery. As it was, I lost about 1/8 of my heart muscle- -dead, scar tissue, not muscle now. Intervention prevented more from dying. I live a pretty normal life now. I have no doubt that without that modern medical intervention I would have been left crippled and that there is a good chance I would have died.

I was within normal weight for my height. I exercised moderately regularly. My total cholesterol and LDL were not high. The cause apparently is that my liver makes too little HDL. Medictions have brought it up to low normal range.

Are you planning on eating herbs or going to the emergency room if you have a heart attack?
