BEA and BroadVision Strategic Alliance Delivers Next-Generation E-Business Solutions SAN JOSE, Calif. & REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Apr 24, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Companies Deliver On First Phase of Alliance, Ensure Interoperability
Between BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise and BEA WebLogic Server
BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS chart, msgs), one of the world's leading e-business infrastructure software companies, and BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSN chart, msgs; Neuer Markt:BDN), a leading worldwide supplier of personalized e-business applications, today announced the two companies have delivered on the first phase of their strategic alliance, announced in November 2000, making BroadVision's J2EE-enabled application platform, BroadVision One-To-One(R)Enterprise 6.0 (generally available since March 31, 2001), fully interoperable with BEA WebLogic(R)Server.
Future versions of BroadVision's application platform will embed BEA WebLogic Server(TM), which will be shipped as part of BroadVision's application suite. Embedding BEA WebLogic Server into BroadVision's e-business application suite will create one of the most powerful, open standards-based e-business solutions available. The integrated BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise 6.0 and BEA WebLogic Server suite will enable customers to extend and operate all BroadVision-powered e-business applications under a full J2EE-compliant environment.
The companies also announced they have expanded their strategic alliance to provide BroadVision customers with rapid access to Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platform technologies using BEA WebLogic Server. By extending the standard embedded license agreement, BEA has granted BroadVision the right to provide a limited quantity of BEA WebLogic Server licenses to new BEA customers to enhance their BroadVision application capabilities using BEA WebLogic Server.
The announcement reinforces the strategic alliance between the two companies under which BroadVision agreed to embed BEA WebLogic Server within BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise, BroadVision's e-business application platform. The two companies also agreed to engage in collaborative engineering and marketing initiatives to supply next-generation e-business solutions that combine the market's leading Java-based application server with the leading e-business software applications.
"Our unique partnership with BEA offers our customers `one-stop shopping' for a winning combination of full J2EE technology extensibility and quick time-to-market e-business applications," said Dr. Pehong Chen, president, chairman and CEO of BroadVision. "This strategic alliance creates a best-of-breed e-business solution that will be compelling to new customers as well as to both companies' existing customer bases."
"By encouraging our partners to adopt open standards, like J2EE, we can help drive the proliferation of these standards in the marketplace," said Alfred Chuang, founder, president and chief operating officer of BEA. "This expanded strategic relationship provides BroadVision customers with a faster evolutionary path to adopt J2EE platform technologies and to quickly take advantage of our open standards-based e-business platform, and it provides BEA customers with powerful e-business application solutions based on the BEA platform."
