I've also puzzled over that one before George. And I suppose the real conflict is not necessarily in some evolution taking place, but in how it all began.
In other words, is all life on earth just some random event in the cosmos which occurs occasionally. Or, are we a product of divine intervention? Further, is the entire universe a random event, or has it been created from the hand of God?
It's my understanding evolutionists have taken Darwin to the next step. Thus the conflict between "Intelligent Design theory, and evolution.
Here's an interesting passage to ponder over. Which one of these makes more sense?
"In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God, he was with God in the beginning. And through him all things were made. Without him nothing was made that has been made, in him was life, and that life was the light of men."
Or....
"In the beginning were the particles, and the impersonal laws of physics. And the particles somehow become complex living stuff on their own power, assisted only by the laws. The stuff imagined God, but then discovered evolution."
