dpl the processor speed appears on the boot-time diagnostic screen, if you have the manufacturer's logo screen disabled. at least this is the case with dell machines. on my dell pc's, i entered system startup program by pressing <del> when the dell logo appears. once in system startup, i found the boot screen menu options and enabled the boot-time diagnostic screen. this option allows the POST (power on self test) diagnostics test results to be displayed on the screen during POST. i always have liked watching POST more than staring at a dell company logo.... btw, norton system works has a component called norton utilities (which is available as a standalone program, too), that will display system info, including processor speed. in nsw, clickstream from the main gui page is: utilities/troubleshoot/system information/system tab/hardware :) mark
