C-Cube Silicon Powers Latest Editing Boards From Matrox
LAS VEGAS, NAB 2001 - April 23, 2001 - C-Cube Microsystems (Nasdaq: CUBE), the market leader in digital video processors, today announced its DVxpressTM-MX single-chip codecs have been incorporated into the newest PC and MAC DV editing boards being shown here this week by market leader Matrox. The selection of DVxpress-MX by Matrox further endorses C-Cube's position as the number one supplier of video codec into the professional broadcast market.
"The programmable nature of the DVxpress-MX chip provides the manufacturer with world-class, high-quality, multi-format, video compression solutions to suit the needs of a growing and diverse market," said Bob Saffari, C-Cube director of Marketing for Advanced Video Products.
"The new Matrox RT2500 builds on the incredible success of our RT2000 real-time editing platform that has won numerous awards and been delivered to over 35,000 users worldwide in just over a year," said Spiro Plagakis, Matrox vice president of Sales and Marketing. "C-Cube's DVxpress-MX25 is an integral part of both products, providing dual-stream real-time DV and MPEG-2 editing and a direct interface with the Matrox graphics processor for real-time 3D effects."
The Matrox RT2500, to be announced at the National Association of Broadcasters 2001 (NAB) show in Las Vegas, is a single-board, real-time, non-linear editing solution for corporate and event video artists that provides more professional features than any other video editing card in its class. The Matrox RT2500 allows users to work with two native-DV or MPEG-2 video streams and a 32-bit uncompressed graphics layer, simultaneously, in real-time. The Matrox RTMac, introduced in March 2001, is the first real-time editing platform for the Apple Power Mac G4 and Final Cut Pro. The Matrox RTMac provides professional-quality, real-time editing, compositing, and effects solutions.
About DVxpress-MX The DVxpress-MX is the only single-chip, multi-format (MPEG and DV) codec that provides an all-digital, seamless bridge for the transfer of video content from acquisition to editing to distribution for non-linear editing and video distribution applications. This capability is a critical enabler of the market shift from proprietary solutions to standards-based, all-digital solutions. The codec dual stream decoding capability allows any two streams of DV and/or MPEG-2 video to be edited side-by-side with time-code driven frame accuracy. DVxpress-MX also offers a full spectrum of special effects that may be applied and viewed in real time.
C-Cube will be in booth number S3313 in the Sands Expo Center, Exhibit Hall D, at the NAB 2001 Show (National Association of Broadcasters), April 23-26 in Las Vegas.
