Okay, you need a little coaxing... <g>

When I was a quite a tad younger than I am today, we used to live on a hillside road in NJ. At the bottom of the hill, the road crossed Rt. 22, which at the time was the busiest and deadliest road in the eastern part of the country. There was a stoplight at the intersection which was timed green/yellow/red. In other words, the light changed whether or not there was any traffic anywhere.

In winter, after a really good snowfall, we'd sled from the top of the hill to the bottom. As we got older, our parents stopped watching us, and just plain sledding was boring. So we'd time the traffic light so that just as we'd reach the bottom of the hill, the light would turn green and we could shoot across all four lanes of the busy highway. We did this for several years running, until someone mis-timed the light and got squashed. I think he lived, but I really can't remember. Shortly after that, the town put in a jughandle at the intersection, and changed the light's timing putting the kabosh on any future sledding across the highway. (Back then we had plows, but there was nowhere near as many plows as today, and they weren't as efficient, so even a plowed highway had a good two or three inch thick snowpack that the cars/trucks drove through.)
