It's requires additional paperwork, you get a very enjoyable car, and you do have a warranty.

If the Euro spec car has been converted and complies within accepted U.S. specs for that model, then you have a full manufacturers warranty providing you have documentation to that effect from the manufacturer's north american representative. It's solely at the discretion of the office in this regards, again written documentation pending sale.

Most dealers or import agents after US spec converson will provide official documentation from the manufacturer stating the VIN, the CA smog emission test passed, and DOT safety regulations for U.S. roads have been met. Ask for documentation of warranty in years and miles as part of the buying process, a good dealer can get this done without fuss.

Here is what they do to convert to U.S. spec:

1. Body...Euro spec bodies has extra lights on the body (side light, rear fog light option), and a different antenna, these are all cosmetic and can be left alone. Bumper standards and crash standards are the similar or better in EU as the US.

2. Engine .. computer is reprogrammed to start with a higher idle RPM to meet U.S. emissions and adjusted for U.S octane levels. Gear ratios may be different (sportier in Europe). Suspension and brakes are the same or better (Bilstein, Brembo). Coolant, liquids, hoses, and parts are all factory, identical.

3. Interior ... Speedometer is in km/h rather then miles per hour. No cup holder. :-)
