How does attacking Hitchens by citing others whom he has criticized or reporting that he is a Marxist serve as a rationalization of Mother Teresa's behavior, I wonder.
Unless you mean to claim that the statements i've posted about her are... untrue?
Do you believe them to be untrue, Christopher?
Let's first establish the hypothetical, if you don't mind.
If I can get you to agree that there is no reason to doubt that Mother Teresa fought birth control for the hungry poor in India, disapproved of pain killers for those dying in agony, believed the suffering of the poor was a good thing and pleasing to God, ran her little clinics in a primitive, unsterile way though millions of dollars were contributed by those who believed they were contributing to assuage the suffering of the poor, yet for her own afflictions sought the most advanced modern medicine, and praised Baby Doc Duvalier as one who loved the poor and was loved by the poor...
if I can get you to agree that those items are credible facts, not myth invented by a necessarily-lying Marxist, will you still, overall, admire her, Christopher?
(Do you know that Hitchens has taken a public position against abortion, btw?)
First tell me if you will continue to admire her if it is true about pain killers, birth control, dirty needles, unaudited millions, Baby Doc, Charles Keating, Diana, and what has been said about her attitude toward the suffering of the poor. This is easy. IF it is true, is she still a heroine of yours? |
