Paul,

Thanks for your insight into the current state of affairs. No doubt that employee morale must be at an all time low. Not to mention that even though the company isn't doing too well, the industry is so hot that anyone who wants to leave can get a job at another semi company in the time it takes to make 1 phone call and fax a resume. I'm sure that management is mostly to blame for the current state of affairs, not the design teams.

What disturbs me about this, aside from the fact that I bottom fished last week and still bought in too high (*#@%), is that I'm not a marketing guru (telecom. engineer) and I can see what they need to do. Why doesn't AMD management and marketing see it? They won't win competing head to head with Intel on processor spec's alone, so DON'T! Ford doesn't make a car that can compete with Porsche or Ferrari, but they still manage to sell a hell of a lot of cars. Sure, this is an oversimplification, but to penetrate the next level of consumers maybe an unconventional (for the computer industry) approach to marketing is more appropriate.

Nuff said.
