Hi DJ, its OK. The subs cannot matter to anyone, and is good way to let all parties off the stage with diplomacy.

China will make a fuss regardless of what is sold, but even the Aegis would not have mattered to the strategic balance, making only a tactical difference for a few minutes.

The taking of Taiwan is happening now, without much fireworks. I think the main reason the Aegis is not supplied is because no one knows what will happen within the next 7 years. By then, China could be supplying the US with destroyer hulls, and maybe even the electronics.
