OT Deference to Police

Certainly there are some bad cops out there. The system should be firm enough to weed them out. But the media is full of accounts of police abuse and a common denominator with most of these cases are "victims" who have a laundry list of run ins with the police.

Perhaps I will stereotype police in an unfavorable way if I ever have a run in with a bad cop. I have never had a problem with police and I suspect the vast majority of people suffering encounters with the police caused the problem themselves. For now I treat any encounter with police as opportunity to show the most respect, appreciation and due deference I can offer.

I keep in mind most police are doing a job not appreciated by most people and that police must always be vigilant that their next encounter with the public could be their last.
