April 25, 2001--Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO - news) is pleased to announce that its GodGames publishing subsidiary shipped Tropico for the PC. Tropico, which was developed by PopTop Software, another Take-Two subsidiary, arrived in stores nationwide on April 25th.
``PopTop have a proven record in the strategy/simulation genre with their previous hit RailRoad Tycoon,'' said Kelly Sumner, Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two Interactive. ``With their undoubted expertise plus the compelling story of being a dictator in your own Caribbean island makes for another opportunity for Take-Two to make a hit in the charts.''
In Tropico, players take on the role a newly instated dictator of a remote Caribbean island and are challenged to build a path of progress for a nation mired in poverty, civil unrest and infighting. Based on their economic vision, gamers build hotels, mines, factories, and over 80 other structures.
