Puck, there's a marvelous old Mexican saying about friends. It's a bit on the, ahem, prurient side so I'll put it in Spanish and let you figure it out. It applies especially well to business, and is tailor-made for the telecom world:
"Los unicos amigos son los huevos, y eso solamente porque siempre andan juntos."
Q: "Friends, friends, we don't need no steenken friends!"
Puck, telecomm is not an ice-cream social at the Junior League gazebo. Q has disrupted the biz, and intends to disrupt it more.
Let's talk facts. Why aren't you letting them get in the way of a good story? Nokia will be screwed in the long term unless it makes a serious change in its direction, GPRS is screwed, EDGE is DOA, WCDMA is comatose...CDMA2000 is here and will be up and running in the US sooner than you expect.
The carriers are going to eventually force Nokia's hand. There are only so many contracts it can finance at 150% of value before it hits the fan. |
