SUNNYVALE, Calif. --April 25, 2001-- Network Appliance (Nasdaq:NTAP - news), the leading provider of network-attached data access and content delivery solutions, and Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OPWV - news), the worldwide leader of open IP-based communications infrastructure software and applications, today announced they have teamed to deliver a collaborative messaging solution that combines Openwave's messaging products with NetApp® storage solutions. This collaboration creates an opportunity for both Openwave and Network Appliance to offer communication service providers (CSPs) a highly scalable technology platform at a lower cost.
Openwave and Network Appliance are collaborating to ensure the highest degree of data storage reliability and performance of their combined solution. Network operators that must contend with large volumes of messaging data will benefit from a scalable platform, readily available to support millions of users and their messaging requirements. The open architecture of the Openwave(TM) Email Mx has the ability to incorporate large volumes of Internet e-mail, voicemail, fax mail, and other emerging messaging technologies as service providers evolve and expand their offerings to include unified messaging services.
