ION Networks Announces New Order From Cingular Wireless Business Wire PISCATAWAY, N.J., Apr 24, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ION Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:IONN), THE PROACTIVE NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT COMPANY(SM) and a leader in performance analysis and restoration, today announced that Cingular Wireless has selected ION Networks' Sentinel 2000S to secure the maintenance ports of all the routers and CSU/DSU units in all of their 75 retail locations in Florida.
By adopting ION Networks' platform, Cingular will be able to manage its highly dispersed Florida communications infrastructure from a central location. The Sentinel 2000S saves the time and cost of sending service technicians to the various retail locations while, at the same time, securing the maintenance ports so no unauthorized personnel can get into the network. With out- of-band access and battery backup, the Sentinel assures that customers can get to the equipment even if there is a network or a power failure.
"We are working closely with Cingular on this pilot project in Florida," said Peter Gordon, ION's Vice President of Sales and Distribution. "We are hopeful that over time ION will be able to expand its business to other Cingular retail locations."
The Sentinel 2000S is the workhorse of the PRIISMS Suite and is used as a cost-effective approach to the management and monitoring of voice and data networks. In addition to supporting a comprehensive solution for network management, it also has powerful scripting capabilities that allow network managers to create customized tools that can be tailored to meet specific business and networking requirements. This powerful base and flexible combination of features ensures that the Sentinel 2000S can handle all the issues affecting continuous management of critical business assets.
