Yin and yang are Oriental concepts - everything is both yin and yang - the circle made up of two wave shapes, one black, one white, is the symbol. You are supposed to strive for balance.
Macrobiotics is a Japanese way of life, of eating, and drinking, and being, that is compatible with Zen Buddhism. If you ever meet someone who practices macrobiotics, you will be impressed - they are beautiful, balanced people.

Yin and yang are not the same thing as acid and alkaline, really.
Don't know if you have ever studied acid-base balance in your metabolism. This may sound weird, but if you take a strip of pH paper and test your saliva or urine, you will see that these solutions are either acidic, neutral, or basic. When they are acidic, you are secreting certain minerals and chemicals that make it acidic - similarly when they are basic - and the minerals and chemicals are different.
To a certain extent, what you eat and drink can affect the pH. I am way too acid, pH around 4-4.5, which is in the normal range but makes me physically uncomfortable. So I am struggling to become more alkaline, actually to be more balanced.
Like everything else, there's some humbug and some fact, and it's always a chore to find out what's fact and what's humbug. |
