E-DATA CORPORATION ANNOUNCES ANOTHER
PATENT INFRINGEMENT SETTLEMENT
ISSUES 21ST LICENSE TO CYBERSOURCE

Secaucus, NJ ...June 11, 1997... E-data Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: GIFT) announced that an additional defendant in the patent infringement suits brought by the company in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of NY has settled with E-data and taken a license.

E-data president Arnold Freilich said that privately held CyberSource Corporation of Menlo Park, CA was granted a license today. The terms and conditions of the settlement were not disclosed.

CyberSource Corporation is a pioneer and leader in Internet Commerce Services (ICS) and Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) technologies. CyberSource owns and operates software.net(tm), the largest Internet-based electronic software superstore.

The E-dataSystem(tm) and U.S. Patent No. 4,528,643 (and corresponding foreign patents) entitled "System for Reproducing Information in Material Objects at a Point of Sale Location" generally relates to point of sale transactions on the Internet such as the purchase of software, data, fonts, music, video and the like and in certain CD-ROM transactions.

The inventor, Charles C. Freeny, Jr. Ph.D., created the concepts and design in the early 1980's and anticipated the evolution of modern commerce through computers.

David Fink, E-data patent counsel, stated that the remaining defendants must file briefs in the New York case by June 21, 1997 and it is expected that the Markman Hearing to determine the construction of the patent claims will be scheduled thereafter. Similar events will likely occur in E-data's Connecticut case. There are 12 defendants remaining in the New York case and 8 defendants remaining in the Connecticut case. Among E-data's 20 other licensees are IBM, Adobe and VocalTec.
