According to their prospectus the only needed financing that is really up in the air is about $885M. Still quite a bit, but much less than $1.7B. Maurice, yes I am brand new to this area of the net. I have gone back and reread every posting under this Iridium vs. Globalstar discussion so I am pretty much up to date. You are right about Motorola, they have stumbled a bit lately. However, recent news is very good. Stock price is up from a recent low of $45 to its current level of $66. They still have enough pull to ram their wants and needs through. I am still interested in whether or not there will be an additional charge for the land based cellular connection with Globalstar. If there is it would significantly increase their price. The Iridium prospectus also indicates that the "bent pipe" system would not work in the air or on the ocean. Is this a true limitation of Globalstar or not. In any case it appears as if Iridium is going after the affluent and industrial market whereas Globalstar would be the choice of those who simply need some form of communication. Both are very lucrative markets.
