re, "Win Doctor keeps telling me there is an invalid key in the registry in reference to BackWeb. It keeps deleting this but it keeps coming back"

sometimes you have to put windoc on ignore. seriously. from time to time certain problems pop up on windoctor over and over again. if you've determined that 'the problem' really isn't causing you or your system any grief, then the job is to tell windoc to stop reporting it.

if you are not familiar with this feature, on the windoc main dialog, look above the icons and click on 'problem', then 'ignore selected problem'. you can click over on 'view' and select 'show ignored problems'. under that, by selecting 'option', you can clear all ignored probs and also view your repair history.

this might be a viable option for you as opposed to tracking down backweb and killing it.
