Russ,

Amen brother! For what it is worth I've pretty much given up on compork. The management problems that surfaced with Pfeiffer and Mason were just the tip of the iceberg in my opinion. This dog is a done deal. Compork's model and strategic thrust are incapable of meeting the challenge of market changes which became apparent in the last six months. I can't really blame MC because he has very little to work with. The cpq model is a loser and there is very little that one can do to change it. Compork is far too entrenched and committed to a losing business strategy and model to dig itself out. There is little doubt in anyone's mind that the Dell model will win this battle hands down. And frankly, it is just a matter of time before the Dell model is tweaked and evolves to the point where it can easily defeat cpq in virtually every market segment. If you disagree - fine. However, so far Dell is winning this battle. Forget about high end servers. Dell will get there. Compork is a dinosaur and will die eventually.
