Jim: OCPI has been hit harder than I anticipated....

Good thing I booked some profits earlier in the week...Yet, it will remain a large holding for me.

Well, with a P/E near 30 and the fact that its growing at near 90%/year, there's no way this down phase will last too long. The firm beat expectations in a very difficult environment (WITHOUT TAKING DOWN GUIDANCE -- unlike almost all the other firms in the optics sector). Look at PSFT -- they beat expectations and the Houses are UPgrading and pushing it higher. My hunch is that OCPI is very conservative with their guidance...I also feel some of The Houses missed the recent run and wanted to scoop up some more cheap shares. Look at this report by UBS Warburg (the same firm that recently bought 'Pain in the Assets Webber' <G>)...

<<CHICAGO, April 26 (Reuters) - UBS Warburg analyst Joseph
Wolf said Thursday he cut his price target and earnings
estimates on Optical Communication Products Inc. , a
maker of fiber-optic subsystems and modules.
Wolf said in a research note he cut his price target on the
company to $20 from $25.
He cut his fiscal year 2001 estimate to $0.35 from $0.38
and his fiscal year 2002 target to $0.32 from $0.40.
Wolf said Optical Communication reported a strong fiscal
second-quarter result but the company was feeling the effects
of slowing demand.
Shares of Optical Communication were off 21 percent, or
$2.50, at $9.35 on Nasdaq in early morning trade. Their
year-high was $23 and their year-low was $5.63.>>

IMHO, this may be another buying opportunity for OCPI...If it pulls back much further I may add to my long term holdings.

Best Regards,

Scott
