Israel is a garrison state whose executive has always been in the grip of seasoned generals: Moshe Dayan, Itzak Rabin, (PM candidate) Mordechai, Barak, Sharon,... just show me one Israeli PM/Defense Minister who was not a former general. Hence Israeli military chiefs can't pin it on the politicians --they're all potential statesmen and most of them will eventually be crowned Minister.... Re: The attack on the Liberty may share considerable comparisons to the US attack on the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade. I can't believe Clinton would be willing to upset his Chinese "buddies" by ordering such an attack. "Considerable" similarities with the US missile attack on the Chinese embassy? Was the US a HOSTILE country to Israel at the time? Besides, the violence of the Israeli pounding --by air and off the Sinai coast-- of the US ship doesn't compare with the US loosing off a single missile astray.... Moreover, there've been enough evidences exposing security breaches within NATO: French officers were briefing the Serbs all along about the air campaign's targets. Gus.
