Funny.. you consider Israel a garrison state. Yet, the entire compulsory service concept was established based upon the Swiss model.
So why limit it to merely be a general? Why not just say that very few, if any, jewish Israeli politicians have never served in the IDF.
Personally, I could give a rat's @ss either way Gustave...
We know you have some kind of anti-semitic grudge with the Jews.
But personally, I try to look at it objectively based upon the events at the time. We wanted to snoop on their communications, so we knew the risk. We received the "compensation" and apology we expected, and life goes on.
The US navy Admirals who sent an unarmed ship into waters where two hostile nations were engaging in battle, without access to immediate air support from the sixth fleet, bear just as much responsibility.
How many neutral ships have been sunk by both sides during various wars?? The list is endless...
All it would have required was a decision by one or two men for them to launch that strike.
But it required the efforts of dozens to patch the diplomatic roe that resulted....
But was the US ship "hostile"? Well, it all depends on one's perspective. If I'm the general tasked with preparing secret plans to take the most strategic geography on my nation's northern border, with a minimum of casualties, then I probably do whatever I need to do in order to save the lives of my boys.
But if I'm a US admiral, then I'm p*ssed as all h*ll about the incident, because those were "my boys"...
If I'm a politician on either side, I would rather this all just "go away" rather than exacerbating an already embarassing situation.
