"It has little to do with IPC performance." Maybe not directly but it has a lot to do with the overall performance. I think the old though that every buyer is dumb and don't know anything about performance benchmarks is old-fashioned. Some doesn't seem to realize the influence Hardware sites and reviews has on customers, just do the maths: [affluence of readers] * [people asking those readers advices for their next system] * [growing number of HW sites] = [lot of influence] That said it's obvious that Palomino need to be .13µ to compete vs Northwood and I hope AMD will keep doing good on the manufacture side. The six month Hammer delay is horrible, could it have something to do with software support? Max (NOTE: can't make those sub-33 ascii thingies under Win98)
