Reagan had to trade all kinds of socialist waste spending and senseless pork to the liberals in Congress in order to get enough of a military rebuild to make sure the Soviet Union went down and stayed down. The liberals to this day don;t understand why their Soviet buddies collapsed. If they manage to perpetrate an American collapse some day, they won't understand that either.

Fortunately, Reagan managed to lower marginal tax rates, so the increase in revenue helped pay the bribes to these "patriotic" gentlemen.

Bush's tax cut won't be as good, because the liberals are still here, and still want to waste everyone's money. But he will likely be able to defend them through 2004 or 2008, and the spending wars (which he will win) will start, full-bore, as soon as the tax cut is signed.

I suggest the liberals pore generous amounts of arsenic in their drinking water...
