The perception of some in the industry is that Verity is similar to Oracle in the early days - light in technology and heavy duty marketing. Philip Couteau CEO, has done a commendable job getting their product out in the market. Verity Inc. (VRTY): The maker of software tools and applications said it had fiscal fourth-quarter net income of 3 cents a share, compared with a loss of 58 cents in the year-ago period. The earnings fell short of the average estimate of 4 cents, according to three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research. Verity stock rose 2 3/8 to 28 1/4.
